Smart gantries gather traffic information and provide information to motorists. Each gantry carries a number of different, disparate systems — signage, fog detection, analytics cameras and more — working together as one coordinated data-collection point.
The structures are engineered to accommodate generators, Variable Message Signs, uninterruptible power supplies, radar systems, cameras and fog sensors, with the latest technology housed in a form designed to respect local architectural character. Operation and maintenance are deliberately kept straightforward.
Variable Message Signs deliver live instruction and warning to motorists at the point where it matters.
Fog sensors secure data on environmental conditions and trigger warnings in fog, sand and storm conditions.
Camera arrays feed dynamic traffic monitoring and enforcement from the same structure.
Alerts are consolidated through the Security Centre, with a Logic & Workflow Engine driving the incident response.
Generators and uninterruptible power supplies are accommodated within the structure to keep the corridor live.
